About Community
We were born in Mochi community by birth we are Mochi. Upper caste (higher society) people were not allowing to seat beside them, not allowing eat with them. They were not allowing us to fill the water from their wells; in hotels also they were not allowing to eat with them. Our utensils were also not to be used by them. Our children were also not allowed to study with their children in the school as we are mochi.
We all are the children of the same god. We are the same human being and having the same blood. All though living in helpless, disregarded and neglected condition.
Mochi caste is backward in culture, clarity in footwear business. Due to lack of knowledge we were living in one corner of village on the kindness of landlords and upper caste people.
At that critical time Mahatma Gandhi had tried to break the type of guile (bad) barriers among the people in India after coming from South Africa and change the social situation. Education, culture post and self confidence has given equality with upper caste in our Mochi Samaj..
Beside such progress our Mochi Samaj people rushed to big cities, overseas to cop up with progressive people leaving their original business and today it is ahead with cultured education comparatively with upper cast and proved that the man is not lover in study by birth and work.
People using the proverb “Mochi ni buddhi bochi ma” are now dump with our cltureful clean living style and with etiquette dealing (concluet). In this situation also some section (position) of society is forward but still most of us are under poverty, giddiness , ignorance status.
With thinking of this our elders of this Bardoli area held meeting on 8-9-1916 and gathered the representative of 38 villages and made a first resolution of prohibition or using liquor and made other eleven resolutions. They preferred the populates with combine name of Ramji Uka of Kathor and vallabh Kanji of kadod and cizenlated overall villages surrounded and they ried to awaken the Mochi Samaj.
